Deborah Lowe has over 12 years of student financial services experience in both two-year and four-year public and private institutions. As a SBS independent consultant she provides Interim Staffing; Consulting and Assessment services to improve business processes, strengthen compliance efforts, and enhance student satisfaction, among other concerns.
Her experience includes serving as a Director of Student Accounts/Bursar and General Accountant in the financial services domain, and as a Registrar in the academic domain of higher education. In those roles, she has also served as a veterans administration certifying official and an international student financial liaison. In addition, she has experience in full charge accounting in university/college wholesale book sales.
Deborah was director of student accounts at Mount Saint Mary’s University (CA). Prior to that, she was the registrar at Columbia College (Hollywood, CA), an academic advisor, and Veterans Administration (VA) certifying official. She began her career in higher education at The Art Institute of California (Hollywood, CA) as a general accountant. Later, she served as associate registrar. In addition, she has experience as a staff accountant for a university/college wholesale book sales company.
Deborah is experienced with several software systems, including Ellucian Colleague, CampusVue, and eCommerce cashiering software. Given her work in the business and academic domains of higher education, she is able to integrate general accounting, finance and administrative systems with academic and student services systems bringing added value to processes full circle.
Deborah has served on an array of university/college committees, including leadership, student affairs, administrative, and academic committees at Mount Saint Mary’s University. She was Columbia College’s main liaison when it sought and successfully received its Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation,
Deborah has developed countless presentations on Financial Literacy for students and parents over the years. She has been invited to participate in forums on student health insurance as a power “user”. In the Los Angeles area (CA), she has presented and hosted business officers’ Chug-A-Dug conferences on a variety of student account related topics.
Deborah received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Argosy University, School of Business (Los Angeles, CA). She is an American Bar Association Certified Paralegal receiving her diploma from New York University (NY).
