Kent McGowan has over 28 years of student financial aid experience in both public and private four-year institutions. Kent came to FAS in 2019. As a consultant, he supports financial aid offices across the country. He provides Interim Staffing, Consulting and Assessment services to improve business processes strengthen compliance efforts and enhance student satisfaction.

His previous experience includes the role of Director of Financial Aid at The University of Montana, including its embedded two-year technical college, Buffalo State College, and Colorado Christian University. He started his career as the Associate Director of Financial Aid at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.

Kent has implemented an instance of Ellucian’s Banner and worked to improve the usage of Banner at a second institution. He also has experience using Blackbaud Award Management software (formerly known as Academic Works) for administering scholarships and Cascade for managing web content, along with the U.S. Department of Education’s suite of applications and websites for administering Federal Student Aid.

Kent enjoys training and has given presentations at conferences and meetings sponsored by the New York State Financial Aid Administrators (NYSFAA), the State University of NY Financial Aid Professionals (SUNYFAP), the Montana Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA), the RMASFAA (Rocky Mountain Association of Financial Aid Administrators) and the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). This included serving on the faculty of RMASFAA’s week-long Summer Institute, teaching intermediate and advanced level subjects.

Mr. McGowan received his Education Masters in College Counseling and Student Personnel Work from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon.
