Tony Carter has over 25 years of experience in the financial aid profession. At the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), Mr. Carter was Director of Financial Aid for nearly 10 years. Prior to UNC Charlotte, Mr. Carter held Director of Financial Aid positions at Queens University, and Lees-McRae College. As a consultant with Financial Aid Services (FAS), Mr. Carter has acted in interim financial aid administrator roles at various institutions, serving as interim director as well as offering processing and operational support. He assists clients with completing the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP), responding to federal program reviews, and managing file reconstruction projects. He has conducted FAS’ Financial Aid Office Effectiveness Reviews for colleges and universities throughout the country. Mr. Carter has keen insights on compliance and regulatory issues. He has provided training and mentoring to many aspiring financial aid administrators.
Mr. Carter’s functional knowledge and “hands on” experience with financial aid management and student information systems includes Ellucian (SunGard) Banner, Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague, Populi, and College Board PowerFAIDS.
Mr. Carter is active in professional associations at state, regional and national levels. He has served in a variety of elected positions, including president, for the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA). Since 1990 he has served on many committees, and held office, for the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA). Among the many roles Tony has played for SASFAA, most notably he has been an instructor for the association’s nationally-recognized New Aid Officer Workshop.
Mr. Carter holds a Master of Arts, Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University and Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He recently obtained a Certificate in Business Process Management.
