George Lunkin

George Lunkin began his career in higher education over 10 years ago in admissions and has worked in financial aid for 5 years. He joined the FAS team in 2008. He has worked at four-year schools in both the public and private sectors and proprietary institutions. He works with college financial aid offices to improve organizational effectiveness and ensure compliance with federal regulations.

George has exceptional customer service skills. He is experienced in student advising, loan certifications, verification, state grants, external scholarships, returning of title IV funds, file review and hand calculations for both FM & IM schools.

George is experienced with several financial aid software systems, including SunGard Banner, Oracle’s Peoplesoft, NSLDS, ELM Resources, and GSFC’s Surfer. George’s presentations include: Customer Service, Financial Literacy Programs, Teamwork, Daring to be Different as well as Strength Finders.

Prior to joining FAS, George was an Account Executive for Wells Fargo Educations Financial Services division. George also worked as a financial aid advisor at Emory University; and Southeastern Louisiana University where he got his start in admissions.

Active in state and regional professional associations, George is a member of the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA) where he served on several committees such as the Community Action and Mentoring committees; the Alabama Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA), the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

George obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University.
