Desiree Smith has over 17 years of experience in financial aid administration. She brings extensive knowledge of budget construction and reconciliation to her work as an FAS consultant.
Desiree assists colleges and universities with file review, loan processing, verification, staff training, and customer service. She specializes in improving fiscal procedures to ensure compliance at client institutions. She helped one institution implement the Heightened Cash Monitoring 2 (HCM2) method of payment, which resulted in significant fiscal improvements.
Desiree is experienced with multiple educational software packages, including SunGard Banner, IBM AS400 ACCESS, Oracle PeopleSoft, Datatel Colleague, College Board PowerFAIDS, and the U.S. Department of Education’s EDExpress and NSLDS.
Prior to joining FAS, she served as assistant director of financial aid with Clark Atlanta University. She has been active in several professional associations, including the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA), and the Georgia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (GASFAA).
She received a Bachelor of Arts from Morris Brown College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
