Financial Aid Services, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm that helps colleges and universities optimize their financial aid and student business operations, has launched services for college and university business offices to support their student account and collections operations.
The new FAS enterprise, Student Business Services (SBS), will offer:
- Consulting services to help address the difficult challenges so many business offices face today
- Assessment of operations to foster best practices, innovation and cost savings
- Interim staffing to keep operations on track and serve students, while ensuring that fiscal and compliance controls are in place even when key positions are vacant or during leaves of absence
- Processing services to offload some of the bursar/student account office's most time-consuming functions
“As we embarked on this new venture, we engaged a group of accomplished business officers, bursars and directors of student financial services from around the country, said FAS President David Gray. “With an average of 25 years’ leadership and managerial experience in two-year and four-year public and private institutions, they have the tools to assist institutions with a wide-range of issues. They are proficient in widely-used student administration systems, e-commerce and payment solution platforms.”
“In addition, this talented group of business officers includes individuals recognized for their work through publications and presentations on student financial services topics,” he said.
Dr. Janet Hunter, FAS Vice President of Student Business Services, who has a wide variety of experience across the higher education industry, will lead the new FAS venture. An advisory team of SBS Executive Consultants includes David Glezerman, Assistant Vice President and Bursar of Temple University; and Anne Gross, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs (retired) for the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).
SBS builds on FAS' experience helping more than 1,350 institutions with effectively administering Title IV financial aid programs, strengthening regulatory compliance and delivering top notch student service. Its 28 years of work as a consulting firm in higher education, well established internal business practices, and history of clean audits provides a solid foundation for offering services to business offices.
