FAS CHECKLIST DISTRIBUTED AT WHITE HOUSE CONFERENCE ON HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Washington, D.C. - September 9, 2007 - Financial Aid Services, an Atlanta-based firm that helps colleges and universities optimize their financial aid operations, developed a checklist for evaluating college and university financial aid operations that was distributed at the National Conference on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, an event organized by the White House.

FAS drew on its 17 years of experience with more than 600 consulting engagements in 39 states when it authored the checklist, a quick reference that addresses items most frequently cited in audits and federal program reviews of college financial aid programs.

Originally developed at the request of an advisory council of HBCU presidents, the Financial Aid Operations Checklist for Senior Administrators is applicable to financial aid operations at all colleges and universities. This easy-to-use-guide identifies 11 best practices in college financial aid, as well as indications of common problems.

"FAS was honored to be one of only 10 private firms invited to participate in this annual White House conference, which was designed to highlight the achievements of HBCU's and serve as a forum for discussion of critical issues impacting higher education," said David Gray, FAS president and founder.

"We designed our checklist to foster a dialog within institutions that leads to improved student service and fund management," he said. "The checklist is a beneficial tool that helps administrators evaluate their financial aid process."
