John Wayne Bodiford

With more than four decades of service in higher education, John Wayne Bodiford has built a distinguished career in financial aid leadership, compliance, and student support. His journey in the profession reflects a lifelong commitment to helping students access the resources they need to succeed.

John most recently served as the Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs at St. Johns River State College, where he guided teams through the complex landscape of federal, state, and institutional aid. Throughout his career, he has developed deep expertise in verification, Return to Title IV, reconciliation, packaging, and FISAP reporting. His work has touched nearly every corner of student financial services, from compliance and operations to collaboration with admissions, the registrar, and the business office.

Beyond his institutional leadership, John has been a pillar in the financial aid professional community. A longtime member of FASFAA, he twice served as the association’s President and was also a Region Representative. His leadership extended to the regional level, where he served on the SASFAA Board in his role as FASFAA President. In recognition of his dedication, John was honored as a Lifetime Member of FASFAA—a distinction reserved for those whose impact on the profession endures well beyond their years of service.

John’s career is supported by his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management, and further distinguished by his ability to bring both precision and perspective to financial aid operations. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he carries forward a spirit of discipline, service, and resilience that continues to define his approach to helping institutions and students alike.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, John is also a musician, bringing creativity and balance to his life and work.

Today, as a Consultant with FAS, John shares his wealth of knowledge and experience with institutions nationwide, helping them strengthen compliance, streamline operations, and ultimately support student success.
