Consultant

Jason Taylor has worked in the financial aid profession for 30+ years. Jason began his experience in the higher education setting as a work study student at Rutgers University. His passion for student service and campus compliance issues began then. After a few years’ service at Educational Testing Service (ETS) as a customer service and administrative assistant in the Educational Records Bureau of the Graduate Record Examinations Program (GRE), he was appointed as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Mercer County Community College. Due to his proficiency in administering aid programs and his propensity for mastering the complexities of Federal and State aid programs, he took on progressively responsible roles over the years, serving as the Associate and the Director of Financial Aid.

Jason is highly proficient in policy and procedure (SOP) review/creation, aid office operation assessment, corrective action planning and documentation. He is a subject matter expert in aid administration that impacts institutional eligibility and participation in Federal and State aid programs. He has an advanced level of experience in performing verification, handling Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), processing loans, and packaging federal and state offers. One of Jason’s fondest memories in aid is when he was able to meet with students and parents to complete the FAFSA and help them to overcome their fear and/or frustration that often accompany the process.

His service as a longtime federal teacher’s credit union board member is indicative of his ability to assess metrics/KPI’s in order to align operations that ensure compliance and bottom-line success. His long-term assignment as a business instructor/assistant professor lends evidence of his experience in teaching, training and mentoring.

Jason has had experience with various financial aid systems over the years which included PowerFAIDS and most recently Ellucian Colleague.
Jason is a member of the New Jersey State Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NJASFAA) having served in roles such as council member at large and subcommittee contributor. He is also a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
