Meghann Nash Degges

Meghann Nash Degges is an independent financial aid consultant with 22 years of experience in financial aid compliance, systems leadership, and operational management, with deep expertise in both federal and Texas state aid programs.

She has held progressively senior roles at Galveston College, serving as Director of Financial Aid, Financial Aid Coordinator, and Financial Aid Specialist, where she led comprehensive financial aid operations and supported institutional compliance across multiple aid programs and regulatory requirements.

Her expertise includes verification, reconciliation, packaging, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), as well as extensive experience with federal and state compliance and reporting, including FISAP, eApps, Texas FAD, annual Work-Study reporting, and other required submissions. She has administered a broad portfolio of aid programs, including federal and state grants, Federal and State Work-Study, Federal Direct Loans, institutional and off-campus scholarships, athletic scholarships (NJCAA), emergency funding, HEERF funds, and default management initiatives.

Meghann brings strong systems expertise, particularly in Colleague, where she serves as a power user and is an active member of her campus team responsible for system updates, configuration decisions, and ongoing optimization. She partners closely with Admissions, Registrar, and Advancement teams to align enrollment strategy, compliance, and student support.

She holds a Certified Financial Aid Administrator® Knowledge Exam credential and extensive NASFAA credentials, including Professional Judgment, Student Eligibility, Cost of Attendance, Packaging and Aid Notification, Application Process, Direct Loans, Consumer Information, Verification, Administrative Capability, Campus-Based Programs, and the Federal Pell Grant Program.

Her academic background includes a Master of Maritime Administration and Logistics from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Administration with a minor in Economics from Texas A&M University, and an Associate of Arts from Galveston College.

Meghann is an active member of TASFAA, SWASFAA, and NASFAA, and serves on the TASFAA Conference Committee (2024–2026). Outside of her professional role, she is deeply involved in her community, serving as Vice President of Yaga’s Children’s Fund, partnering with Texas Child Protective Services, and supporting youth programs through Girl Scouts. A lifelong resident of Galveston, Texas, she brings a strong sense of community, service, and student-centered commitment to her consulting work.
