Student Business Services Consultant for Interim Staffing

FAS Student Business Services is seeking a business officer, with extensive experience in higher education student account administration at a managerial level, to join our team and fulfill interim staffing engagements. Interim staffing is intermittent work that is full-time for the length of the engagement.  Relocation is not necessary, but weekly travel is required.  Successful applicants must have:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Comprehensive knowledge of student account activities including billing and collections of tuition, fees and other charges; disbursement and refund processes; cashiering; internal controls; reconciliation; loan servicing; vendor management; e-commerce; and Title IV, PCI and other relevant compliance measures
  • Ability to work in diverse and complex environments with campus administrators and their staff including those in the business office, financial aid, registrar, enrollment management, auxiliary services, and others
  • Management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Functional knowledge of one or more of the widely-used ERP systems—Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar and/or CAMS—helpful but not required
  • Prior professional experience of at least 10 years at the manager or director level in student business services (i.e., bursar, student financial services, student accounts)
  • A bachelor’s degree (an advanced degree is highly desirable)

Compensation is commensurate with experience.  Strongest preference will be given to those with recent experience at a public or private nonprofit institution.

Financial Aid Consultant

Financial Aid Services is seeking financial aid professionals to fill interim management, counseling and processing positions. Our consultants serve as interim professional staff in college and university financial aid offices. In a consulting capacity, they provide project management, assessments and analyses of all aspects in a financial aid office, guidance to optimize technology use, and direction to respond to audits and reviews. Relocation is not mandatory. However, extensive travel is required as is a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

The successful applicants will have:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Title IV programs
  • The ability to work in diverse and complex environments with campus staff at all levels
  • Management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently or as members of administrative teams
  • A functional knowledge of automated financial aid management systems is required. Proficiency in the use of The College Board’s PowerFAIDS, Ellucian Banner, Ellucian Colleague, Oracle PeopleSoft, Jenzabar and/or CAMS.

FAS consultants are seasoned, financial aid administrators. Prior professional experience, of no less than 10 years at the associate director and/or director level, is required to serve in leadership positions. A bachelor’s degree is required and an advance degree is highly desirable. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Strongest preference will be given to those with recent financial aid experience at a public, or private nonprofit, institution.

Financial Aid Specialist

FAS has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Specialist. 

This position’s responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in verification/C-Code resolution process: (student files, verification documents, C-Code information)
  • Contacting and following up with students regarding documentation needed
  • Reviewing files for completeness and accuracy prior to awarding aid
  • Assisting in awarding students Title IV and other types of financial aid
  • Assisting with originating and disbursing federal funds
  • Running reports indicating anticipated and unpaid aid
  • Adjusting awards as needed based on additional aid, new ISIR’s, change of enrollment status, etc.
  • Performing Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations
  • Assisting in reconciliation process
  • Providing backup for managers and helping with special projects as needed

Ideal candidates will be skilled financial aid administrators with a minimum of five years of financial aid experience and comprehensive knowledge of Title IV programs. Must have proficiency with one or more of the commonly-used financial aid management systems.  A working knowledge of EdConnect/EdExpress, NSLDS, and COD systems would be helpful.  Prefer candidates with supervisory or management experience in a financial aid setting.  Also, excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.  A bachelor’s degree is required.
