Financial Aid Analysts

Financial Aid Services (FAS), a proven leader in providing financial aid solutions to colleges and universities nationwide for over 29 years, is seeking to fill financial aid analysts (processing support) positions. These analyst opportunities are located at the FAS corporate office in Atlanta, GA.

Ideal candidates will be skilled financial aid professionals with a minimum of two years of financial aid experience at the counselor-level or higher. A college degree is preferred.

The positions require comprehensive knowledge of Title IV programs and proficiency with one of the commonly used financial aid management systems (such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, or PowerFAIDS).

Compensation for the positions is commensurate with experience.

Full Service Client Services Coordinator

Financial Aid Services (FAS) is seeking to hire qualified financial aid professionals. The positions are permanent, full-time and located in our Atlanta office.

Ideal candidates will be skilled financial aid administrators with a minimum of five years of financial aid experience. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of Title IV programs and proficiency with one of the commonly-used financial aid management systems (PowerFAIDS is most preferred). Working knowledge of EdConnect/EdExpress, NSLDS, and COD systems is essential for this position.

The successful candidates will assist FAS’ Full Service Manager as needed with awarding aid to students including originating and disbursing federal funds, adjusting awards as needed, verification, c-code resolution, R2T4 calculations, reconciliation and other duties as assigned.

Preferred candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills and a college degree. Financial aid supervisory or management experience is a plus.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Financial Aid Consultant – Director Level

Financial Aid Services, Inc. (FAS), the leader in providing financial aid consulting, interim staffing and processing solutions to over 1,800 colleges and universities nationwide for over 30 years, is looking to grow its consulting team.

Job Purpose: To assist FAS clients deliver services in a manner that is efficient, compliant, and student-focused.

Required Experience: Ideal candidates will be skilled financial aid professionals with a minimum of 8 years of financial aid experience at the director-level. A bachelor’s degree is required, and an advance degree is highly desirable. The position also requires comprehensive knowledge of Title IV programs and proficiency with one of the commonly used financial aid management systems (such as Ellucian Banner, Ellucian Colleague, PeopleSoft, PowerFAIDS, or CampusVue).

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Title IV programs
  • Ability to manage staff
  • Ability to work in diverse and complex environments with campus staff at all levels
  • Management and Organizational skills with the ability to work independently or as members of administrative teams
  • Proficiency in the use of Ellucian Banner, Ellucian Colleague, PeopleSoft, PowerFAIDS, and/or CampusVue is highly desirable

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the financial aid office and staff
  • Train financial aid staff
  • Make sure the upcoming award year’s processing cycle stays on track and in line with the College’s enrollment strategies
  • Assist with distributing emergency grant and other funds provided under the CARES Act and other possible relief programs related to the COVID-19 National Response
  • Submit the Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) grant reporting as required by ED (if needed/requested)
  • Assist associate/assistant director and financial aid counselors (student-facing staff) with the more complex financial aid issues
  • Work with the business office staff to ensure federal program accounts are reconciled monthly
  • Respond to reporting requests for financial aid data
  • Assist with preparing and submitting the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP) or making necessary FISAP edits
  • Provide a weekly status report to the designated college official and FAS’ VP of Consulting Services
  • Conduct an exit interview at/near the end of the engagement

  • Maintain the office’s service orientation (from frontline to back office)
  • Assist with packaging and make award adjustments as necessary
  • Review special circumstance requests (appeal) requests
  • Follow up with students and families to complete their financial aid file
  • Make sure the new award year’s processing cycle stays on track and in line with the College’s enrollment strategies
  • Assist with distributing emergency grant and other funds provided under the CARES Act and other possible relief programs related to the COVID-19 National Response
  • Help counselors (student-facing staff) with the more complex financial aid issues

  • Meet other critical deadlines such as SAP monitoring or appeals and the timely Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4)

  • Other tasks assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or College official

Student Business Services Consultant for Interim Staffing

FAS Student Business Services is seeking a business officer, with extensive experience in higher education student account administration at a managerial level, to join our team and fulfill interim staffing engagements. Interim staffing is intermittent work that is full-time for the length of the engagement.  Relocation is not necessary, but weekly travel is required.  Successful applicants must have:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Comprehensive knowledge of student account activities including billing and collections of tuition, fees and other charges; disbursement and refund processes; cashiering; internal controls; reconciliation; loan servicing; vendor management; e-commerce; and Title IV, PCI and other relevant compliance measures
  • Ability to work in diverse and complex environments with campus administrators and their staff including those in the business office, financial aid, registrar, enrollment management, auxiliary services, and others
  • Management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Functional knowledge of one or more of the widely-used ERP systems—Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar and/or CAMS—helpful but not required
  • Prior professional experience of at least 10 years at the manager or director level in student business services (i.e., bursar, student financial services, student accounts)
  • A bachelor’s degree (an advanced degree is highly desirable)

Compensation is commensurate with experience.  Strongest preference will be given to those with recent experience at a public or private nonprofit institution.
